“The Art of Becoming Humane” is the narrative art practice of Abby Kamen, a Louisville, Kentucky based artist and author. Focusing on generational trauma, her work seeds inspiration for confronting and dismantling supremacist thinking, hierarchical structures, and cycles of harm. The camera motif throughout reminds us of the gifts we bring to the fight for a more liberated world when we root in our most expansive perspective.

At Arete Gallery, she will be showcasing works from her recording, unlearning, and expanding series – highlighting the process of hearing, thinking, and seeing through the lens of our hearts. She will spark your curiosity, activate your imagination, and inspire you to join her in a bold and compassionate new vision for our collective future thriving.

These nights are some of our favorites—an opportunity for artists to gather, connect with the community, and share conversations about art and creativity. Join us as we welcome James Dupree and John Stango to Arete Gallery.

James Dupree is a renowned American artist, educator, and activist whose career spans over five decades. Dupree has created over 35 series that explore the intersection of race, culture, and fine art. A master of his craft, his work is defined by intentional use of color, form, and unparalleled technique.

John Stango is a contemporary pop artist with a worldwide following, known for his distinctive American Muscle Car style. With bold, iconic imagery, he carries the pop art movement into the 21st century.

Join us for a special three-day pop-up event with renowned Pop artist Perry Milou at Arete Gallery. Known for his bold “fine-pop” style, Milou brings to life global icons, celebrities, and cultural landmarks in vibrant, expressive color.

Originally recognized in Philadelphia for painting sports legends and city scenes live on the streets, Milou has spent over 30 years building a nationally celebrated career. His current gallery is located just across the river in Lambertville, NJ.

This April, Arete Gallery invites you to experience live improv theater right on our front porch! Actors from across the region will gather for interactive improv sessions—bringing scenes to life with quick wit, bold choices, and audience energy.

Expect Shakespearean antics, Socratic dialogue, and unexpected twists! Whether you’re watching or jumping in, all are welcome.

We’re thrilled to announce an evening of powerful poetry with the New Hope Poets Society and award-winning poet John Sozanski at Arete Gallery. Join us as Sozanski debuts his latest collection, Expecting Hands, a journey through life’s complexities, cultural displacement, and the immigrant experience—marked by vivid imagery and stark honesty. Born in Warsaw and a member of the Mad Poets Society, Sozanski brings a unique perspective to his craft. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UA World Art Fund, supporting Ukrainian artists. All are welcome!

Arete Gallery is thrilled to announce the sale of a unique piece of artwork in partnership with renowned artist Robert Goetzl. Titled “Love Is The Answer,” this extraordinary piece is a guitar hand-painted by Robert Goetzl with a portrait of John Lennon, signed by May Pang, who famously worked with Lennon during his “Lost Weekend” era. The artwork is a watercolor/mixed media creation on spruce, with a John Lennon portrait interpretation inspired by the film photography of Lennon in NYC in 1974 by a BBC film crew and the photograph of Lennon and May Pang by Peter Simins. The guitar bears May Pang’s autograph, dated 5/18/24, in silver marker. It is beautifully presented in a black shadow box frame with floating guitar art, protected by museum-quality non-glare glass. The piece is available for viewing at Arete Gallery in New Hope, PA.

The art exhibit features pieces from the Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer, Michael Cartellone. Arete Art Gallery is hosting a meet and greet with Michael on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 4pm – 7pm at the gallery. Lynyrd Skynyrd is performing at a music festival in Bethlehem, PA and it’s the perfect time to meet Michael and his friends. To register for the meet and greet contact info@aretegallery.com. Art exhibit showcasing the extraordinary talents of sisters Marzena Haupa and Magda Dodd. The exhibition will run from July 1 to July 13, 2024, culminating in a special event on the final day, July 13, from 2 – 4pm, where attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet the artists in person and view never-before-seen pieces.

Marzena Haupa, an abstract figurative artist from Princeton, NJ, and Magda Dodd, an abstract impressionist from Lawrenceville, NJ, will present their larger canvas paintings in this much-anticipated exhibition. Their work, marked by vibrant colors, ranges from Monet-inspired sceneries to portraits of Marilyn Monroe.

A special three-day free photographic exhibition featuring candid photos of John Lennon and friends taken by May Pang, his lover during his “Lost Weekend” era. This exhibition coincides with the recent release of the feature film documentary on May Pang and John Lennon’s relationship “The Lost Weekend – A Love Story.

May Pang herself will be at the show to meet and greet customers. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Lennon’s private moments captured by someone who knew him intimately during this creative time in his life. All works will be available for purchase.

Food and drinks will be available at the gallery’s upstairs loft.
